Ann Thompson receives Distinguished Service in Medical Education Award

Congratulations to Ann Thompson, who received the Distinguished Service in Medical Education Award at the School of Medicine’s annual Curriculum Colloquium on Feb. 1. This award is the highest honor in medical education given by the School of Medicine, and it recognizes high educational achievement, significant administrative responsibilities, and dissemination of scholarship over many years.

 

 

Estefany Villalobos received a Professional Accolade for dedication to medical education

Congratulations to Estefany Villalobos, APP, on her recent recognition from the School of Medicine’s Office of Learning Environment. She was awarded a Professional Accolade recognizing her dedication to medical education. In her nomination letter by a Pitt medical student, they say, “…More than just teaching, Estefany approached each interaction with deep empathy, ensuring that both her patients, patient families, and staff felt valued, heard, and understood.”

 

Noona Vehovic created a fundraiser to increase awareness for maternal mental health

Pars for Postpartum was created by Noona Vehovic, APP, after her own experience with postpartum depression and postpartum anxiety. The event raised over $42,000 in 2023. You can learn more about the fundraiser in this short YouTube video.

 

 

 

Idris Evans completed the UPMC Physician Leadership Essentials Program

The Leadership Essentials Program included more than 40 hours of leadership and management instruction, in addition to several self-assessments, class discussions, readings, homework, and a capstone project. Leadership Essentials is part of a multi-year comprehensive approach to physician leadership development designed to equip physician leaders with the skills necessary to successfully identify and leverage personal and team strengths and build community among physician leaders across UPMC.

 

Scott Gunn was awarded a 2023 UPMC Physician Excellence Award

Scott Gunn was awarded a Senior Physician Excellence in Clinical Care award, sponsored by UPMC Physician THRIVE. This award honors clinicians who exhibit a passion for medicine and consistently achieve clinical excellence.
