CRISMA Biostatistics and Data Management Core

The CRISMA Biostatistics and Data Management Core (BDMC) provides statistical and data management services for CRISMA researchers and collaborators. Major services include research database design and management, data analysis, statistical consulting, and secure web-based data collection for clinical trials and other prospective studies. The BDMC also facilitates the use of UPMC electronic health records for research, enabling CRISMA investigators to work with the health records of one of the nation’s largest integrated health systems.

WEB DATA COLLECTION TOOLS

  • Custom-built databases for clinical trials using .NET, VB and C# frameworks
  • All database tools maintained in compliance with UPMC’s IT policies
  • Annual security plan assessments
  • Custom tools and reporting capabilities

DATA MANAGEMENT & SECURE DATA STORAGE

  • Industry-standard database management using back-end SQL infrastructure
  • Secure data warehousing in accordance with UPMC data security policies and guidelines
  • Data housed behind UPMC firewall

STATISTICAL ANALYSIS

  • Statistical expertise for sophisticated modeling or analysis
  • Statistical consulting, guidance and hands-on assistance to support CCM and CRISMA research

BIOSPECIMEN TRACKING

  • Tracking using the custom-build BIOS specimen inventory
  • BDMC works in close collaboration with the CRISMA Clinical Research Biospecimen Core Lab to track specimens and obtain results
