Dennis Phillips, DO, Appointed Co-Chair of GME LEAPS committee
Dennis Phillips, DO, has been appointed to the position of co-chair of the Leadership in Education And Patient Safety (LEAPS) committee, a sub-committee of the Graduate Medical Education committee. The LEAPS committee oversees the experience and safety of residents and fellows. A clinical assistant professor of Anesthesiology, Dr. Phillips holds a secondary appointment in the Department of Critical Care Medicine and is the assistant director of the Anesthesiology Critical Care MedicineFellowship program.

Recognized for his leadership skills, Dr. Phillips has served on multiple committees and taken on leadership roles to improve the quality and safety of care for patients at UPMC. He has served as the director of the quality improvement committee for the Department of Anesthesiology and Perioperative Medicine for three years, and at UPMC Presbyterian as the director of the Difficult Airway Team and a member of the patient safety committee.
A Clinical Assistant Professor who joined UPMC and the University of Pittsburgh in 2013, he practices cardiothoracic anesthesiology at UPMC Presbyterian and critical care medicine in the Cardiothoracic Intensive Care Unit. Dr. Phillips attended medical school at the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine, and completed his anesthesiology residency, adult cardiothoracic anesthesiology fellowship and anesthesiology critical care medicine fellowship at UPMC.
