Matthew Rosengart, MD, MPH, to be Inducted into The American Society for Clinical Investigation

Professor Matthew Rosengart, MD, MPH, is to be officially inducted as a member of The American Society for Clinical Investigation (ASCI) during the Society's annual dinner in Chicago on April 20, 2018. Dr. Rosengart is one of 78 physician-scientists recognized by the Society through a process of nomination and election by ASCI members.

He is the Program Director of the Adult Critical Care Surgery Fellowship and oversees four new fellows each year. Dr. Rosengart's Lab has a long-standing record of examining the role of innate immunity in the systemic response to injury and infection, with particular expertise in calcium-dependent mechanisms. The translational perspective of his studies provides mechanistic insight into the ramifications of the common practice of calcium supplementation in critical illness on the clinically relevant outcomes of organ failure and survival.

The ASCI supports the scientific efforts, educational needs, and clinical aspirations of physician-scientists to improve human health. The Society is an honor society of physician-scientists, who translate findings in the laboratory to the advancement of clinical practice. Founded in 1908, it is home to over 3,000 members in the upper ranks of academic medicine and industry.
