The 24-bed Medical Surgical ICU provides advanced care for critically ill patients with cardiac and medical diseases as well patients who have undergone general, thoracic, ear, nose, throat and urological surgery. The Medical Surgical ICU team works in collaboration with colleagues in the departments of General Surgery and Medicine and the Division of Cardiology as well as other surgical departments.
The UPMC Mercy Medical Surgical ICU specializes in patients with:
- Cardiac arrest
- Acute myocardial infarction
- Congestive heart failure
- Cardiogenic shock
