Residents and fellows who are enrolled in accredited programs are welcome to apply for a rotation in Intensive Care Units within the Department of Critical Care Medicine of the University of Pittsburgh. We will review applications only from trainees in existing residency or fellowship training programs who are actively supported for this rotation by their program director and financially by their training institution. The Department of Critical Care Medicine does not offer any financial support for visiting trainees.
The CCM Department manages the following units: cardiothoracic, surgical/trauma, neurotrauma, and neurovascular ICUs at Presbyterian University Hospital, transplantation ICU at Montefiore University Hospital, and mixed medical-surgical unit at Magee-Women’s Hospital. In addition to participating in daily clinical activities, visiting trainees can participate in CCM educational programs including lectures, workshops, journal club sessions, grand rounds and simulation training at the Peter M. Winter Institute for Simulation, Education and Research (WISER).
The CCM Office of Education and the UPMC Graduate Medical Education office will review your application materials and institutional information. If accepted, it is the responsibility of the visiting resident or fellow to complete in a timely manner the required PA Medical Training License, employment paperwork, TB results, security clearances, and to assure the institutional agreements (MAA and PLA) are completed and signed by their institution; otherwise the rotation will be denied.
Applicants for visiting rotations must submit the following for consideration:
(1) Information Form (2) CV (3) Letter of Intent (4) Letter of Support
