Immune Regulation of RNA Metabolites in Sepsis

Funded by the Clinical and Translational Science Institute (CTSI) at the University of Pittsburgh, the major goal of this research is to explore the association between RNA metabolites measured using mass-spectrometry based metabolomics and the risk of worse outcomes in sepsis. We will complete a nested case control study of an existing cohort of infected patients at risk for organ failure from the University of Washington. The clinical work will be supported by in vitro cell culture experiments to explore the damage-associated molecular pattern behavior of RNA metabolites.
