The nine-bed Trauma Burn ICU provides advanced care for critically ill patients with traumatic injuries and severe burns. The Trauma Burn ICU team is an integral part of the UPMC Mercy Burn Center and works in collaboration with colleagues in the Division of Trauma Surgery. UPMC Mercy Hospital is a Comprehensive Burn Center, one of only 68 nationwide as designated by the American Burn Association.
The Trauma Burn ICU specializes in patients with:
- Severe burns
- Smoke inhalation
- Traumatic injury
- Acute respiratory failure
- Shock
