Michael Pinsky receives SMART Award

Dr. Michael Pinsky of the Univeristy of Pittsburgh Department of Critical Care Medicine was awarded the SMART Career Award.  This award is given to senior clinicians/scientists who have made a significant contributions to the field of intensive care medicine.

The award was first given in 2003 at the 14th annual SMART conference, making Dr. Pinsky the 11th person to receive the award.

 The SMART conference is the largest Intensive Care Medicine conference in Italy (annual attendance in 2013 was approximately 4000) and is the third largest annual intensive care conference in Europe. 

"The prior awardees are a remarkable list of great critical care physicians so I am very honored to be in their company", says Dr. Pinsky. The previous awardees are:
