Dennis Simon is the Inaugural Recipient of the Children’s Trust Young Investigator Award

Dennis Simon, MD, has received the first Children’s Trust Young Investigator Award, presented by the Children's Trust of Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh Foundation. The Children’s Trust funds innovative research being pursued at CHP.

Simon, Assistant Professor of Critical Care Medicine and the Associate Program Director of the PCCM Fellowship, was given the award for his grant proposal entitled, “Role of IL-17 and IL-17 Producing T-lymphocytes on Neuroinflammation and Functional Outcomes in Pediatric Traumatic Brain Injury.” Competition for this award involved a scientific review, whereupon the top 3 candidates were selected to present their proposals to Children’s Trust members in May. The $40,000 grant was awarded to him on May 26.
