Mon, 07/11/2016

A new book from Springer and edited by David Crippen, MD, FCCM, Professor of Critical Care Medicine and Neurological Surgery, explores the experience of aging as a physician in a high-stress field.

The Intensivist’s Challenge: Aging and Career Growth in a High-Stress Medical Specialty contains essays written by veteran intensivists on a variety of topics, including why they became intensivists, how innovations have changed the field, how they have approached retirement, and even forecasts about the future of critical care medicine. Several chapters are written by current and former CCM faculty including Crippen, Ake Grenvik, James Snyder, and Marie Baldisseri. Taken together, the narratives offer an insightful exploration of the past 40 years of critical care medicine.
