Professor Michael R. Pinsky gave the 2009 Endowed Wynands Visiting Lectureship at the Ottawa Heart Institute on October 21, 2009. The lectureship honors one of the pioneers of Canadian Cardiac Anesthesiology. Dr. Pinsky’s lecture was entitled “Use of minimally invasive monitoring to improve outcomes from cardiac surgery.” Shown in this picture (from left to right) are Michael R. Pinsky, MD, J Earl Wynands, MD (retired) and James Robblee, the Director of Cardiac Anesthesia at the Ottawa Heart Institute. This endowed lectureship was initiated last year but named in honor of Professor Wynands just prior to Dr. Pinsky’s lecture. Both Drs. Wynands and Pinsky were McGill University Medical School alumni, with Dr. Wynands graduating 50 years ago and Dr. Pinsky 35 years ago.
