Dr. Ake Grenvik - CCM Grand Rounds Entitled “40 Years of Critical Care Medicine at Pitt

On Friday, September 18th, Ake Grenvik, MD, Distinguished Service Professor in the University of Pittsburgh Department of Critical Care Medicine, delivered a Critical Care Medicine Grand Rounds entitled “40 Years of Critical Care Medicine at Pitt.” His talk detailed the changes he had observed, overseen and orchestrated during his career, including the design of ICUs and ICU staffing, the development of the Multidisciplinary Critical Care Training Program, the development of brain death protocols, the application of ethical principles to patient and family-centered medical decision making in critical care. His talk was delivered to a large audience and he received a standing ovation.
