Valentina DiCaro, PhD

Valentina is a Research Associate in Dr. Rajesh Aneja's lab in the Rangos Research Center at the Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh of UPMC.

Dr. Di Caro graduated in Biological Sciences Molecular Biology major, in 2001, from the University of Palermo, Palermo, Italy, where she also completed a Research Doctorate (Ph.D.) in Cell Biology in 2006. In 2007 she started her Post Doctorate Fellowship at the University of Pittsburgh in the Department of Immunogenetics at the Rangos Research Center, Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh of UPMC. From 2011 to 2014 she worked as Research Associate for Ri.Med Foundation, Palermo, Italy. Valentina joined the Department of Critical Care Medicine as a Research Associate in September 2014. Her most recent research interests are focused on understanding the role of high fiber diet on the modulation of the immune system in mouse models of sepsis and the effect of the immune suppressant drug FK505 (tacrolimus) on the release of HMGB1 in human monocytes.
