Kimberly Gail Anderson, CRNP, CCRN

RN Clinician 6F/G Trauma ICU

412.958.3911

I first graduated from the St Margaret’s School of Nursing diploma program in 1985. It was not until 2004 that I decided to return to school. I chose the University Of Pittsburgh School Of Nursing RN to Master’s program. I completed my BSN in 2007 and completed my MSN as an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner as well as a minor in Nursing Administration.  I also completed course work at the University of Pittsburgh Graduate School of Public Health to obtain a Certificate of Public Health Preparedness and Disaster Response.

I have always worked full time since my first nursing job in 1985 at the VA.  My work experience includes the VAMC Oakland (Orthopedic surgical unit, Outpatient Clinic and SICU), St. Francis Medical Center (Physical Rehab unit and Special Care Nursery), Montefiore Hospital (Medical Unit), Western Pennsylvania Hospital (Neonatal ICU) and UPMC Presbyterian (Surgical Trauma ICU and SICU).

Soon after 911 I joined the PA-1 Disaster Medical Assistance Team (PA-1 DMAT). This is part of the National Disaster Medical System with in United States Department of Health and Human Services. I am intermittently employed as a RN and have responded to many disasters such as Hurricanes Charlie, Francis and Ivan in 2004, Hurricane Katrina/Rita in 2005, Hurricane Gustav in 2008, the Haiti earthquake in 2010 and to Binghamton, NY after the floods in 2011. I have also trained extensively not only with my own DMAT team but with teams across the Nation practicing our response to possible disasters. In 2011 I became part of a subgroup within DMAT, Mobile Acute Care Strike Team. This team is meant to augment the United States Air force in transporting critically injured civilian victims during a disaster.

Additionally, I have three beautiful children (Adam, Luke and Bridget). Those that know me have heard many stories about my children and our adventures in growing together. We have a dog (Oscar) and two cats (Albert and Maddie). Albert is one crazy cat! I enjoy spending summer weekends at the river in the sun boating. My dream vacation is on just about any island beach. I love baking and entertaining during the winter holidays.
