Dr. Jennifer Ervin is a Post-Doctoral Associate in the Department of Critical Care Medicine at University of Pittsburgh, and is an adjunct teacher in the Tepper School of Business at Carnegie Mellon University. She received her PhD in Communication from the University of Arizona. Her primary subject was small group communication, with additional emphases in family and interpersonal communication. She is currently working on UNITED: UNderstanding Intensive care Teams through Evidence-based practice.

Dr. Ervin studies small group dynamics in a variety of settings. For example, her dissertation focused on information sharing norms in small decision-making groups that engaged in multiple discussions about mental health. She is currently studying how ICU team dynamics influence patient care. She is particularly interested in family participation in rounds, and interprofessional and interdisciplinary conflict.

Jennifer is obsessed with kitchen gadgets (e.g., all things Pampered Chef). She will want to make something for you. Warning: She is much better at baking than she is cooking.
