Elke Brown, MD

Project Manager, Program of Ethics and Decision Making


Elke was born and raised in Sao Paulo, Brazil where she attended Catanduva Medical School and completed a residency in Internal Medicine. Upon completion of her residency, she spent the next 10 months at the University of California, San Diego as a research fellow in the osteoradiology section. She returned to Brazil and practiced as a physician for three years, before moving to the U.S. and settled in Pittsburgh.  Elke comes to CCM from the department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at the University of Pittsburgh, where she was a post-doc and clinical researcher for the past 61/2 years.

Elke was hired November 2014 to the Program of Ethics and Decision Making as Project Manager for Dr. White’s R01, ”PARTNER II: Improving Patient and Family Centered Care in Advanced Critical Illness.” Elke loves to travel to different cities and countries and learn about new cultures. She enjoys spending time with her two children, Arthur (11 years) and Ursula (10 years).
