Dr. Muigai completed his medical training at the University of Nairobi Medical School, Nairobi, Kenya.  His initial internship at the Nyeri Provincial General Hospital in Nyeri, Kenya was followed by work as a General Practice Attending and Medical Superintendent for the Ministry of Health in Kenya. He then joined the Nairobi Hospital ,a private institution,  where his responsibilities as an ICU Attending led to his interest in Critical Care and subsequent move to the US. After a second internship and Internal medicine Residency at UPMC McKeesport, he joined and graduated from the Multidisciplinary Critical Care Fellowship Training Program in 2007. Dr Muigai has completed a University of Pittsburgh Mini-MBA Program and is currently the Medical Director of the Adult ICU at Magee Womens Hospital of UPMC.
