Christa Cox, MPAS, PA-C

Critical Care Physician Assistant

Surgical Trauma Intensive Care Unit

Christa attended Gannon University where she obtained a bachelor’s degree in Health Sciences in 2008 and then went on to receive her Master’s in Physician Assistant Studies in 2009.  After graduation, she moved back home to Pittsburgh where she took a job at Children’s Hospital working for the Pediatric Abdominal Transplant surgeons.  After a wonderful year there, her now husband and her decided to move south to the much warmer state of North Carolina.  There she took a job at Wake Med in Raleigh, NC.  She worked as a Physician Assistant as part of the General Surgery and Trauma team.  Working at a Level 1 Trauma Center gave her a lot of experience caring for critically ill patients both on the floors, in the operating room, and in the intensive care unit.  It is during her two years there that she learned how much she loved both critical care and surgical and trauma patients.  Therefore, when the opportunity arose for her to take a position as a critical care physician assistant in the Surgical Trauma ICU she took it.  She now is happily working at UPMC Presbyterian at her current role in the ICU.

When Christa is not working, she is spending time with her family and friends.  She has been married for 3 years to her husband Bill and they have one precious daughter together.  They love doing anything outdoors together, especially golfing or traveling to the beach!
