Center for Critical Care Nephrology

The Center for Critical Care Nephrology, formerly the Bioengineering & Organ Support (BOS), housed within in CRISMA Center specializes in developing, testing and evaluating devices for the diagnosis and treatment of critical illness.

Our Vision

The Center for Critical Care Nephrology promotes a multi-professional model of basic, translational, and clinical research with the goal of developing novel treatments and disruptive innovations to prevent, manage, and cure acute disorders of kidney function, as well as fluid and electrolyte disorders in critically ill patients.

Research Themes

Our primary areas of focus are on sepsis, acute kidney injury and organ donor management. Our research within these areas spans multiple themes including biomarkers, pathogenesis, extracorporeal blood purification, resuscitation and ICU epidemiology.

Acute Kidney Injury

–Epidemiology
–Recovery
–Pathogenesis
–Pathophysiolog (lung, immune
  system)
–Support and fluid management

Sepsis and Organ Failure

–Organ dysfunction and support
  (including resuscitation)
