UPMC Presbyterian Neurotrauma ICU

The 10-bed Neurotrauma ICU provides advanced care for critically ill patients with injuries to the brain or spinal cord secondary to trauma, as well as other traumatic injuries involving the chest, abdomen, major vessels and long bones. The Neurotrauma ICU team works in collaboration with colleagues in the Department of Neurosurgery and Division of General and Trauma Surgery. 

The Neurotrauma ICU specializes in patients with:

  • Brain and spinal cord injury
  • Anoxic brain injury
  • Hemorrhagic shock
  • Sepsis
  • Respiratory failure
  • Certification of death by neurological criteria
